But just to be fair, when they wrote 2nd amendment they had in mind flintlocks and muskets, and how much damage they can do?
Look up how many people were killed in each major battle during the Civil War then you tell me.
Reguardless, if you want to rewrite the Second Amendment, we have to rewrite the entire Constitution. Can't pick and choose and this isn't going to happen anyway. The Constitution is the foundation of our Country and not to be meddled with lightly. Yes it can be amended but this is not an easy process and it should not be.
That was a "tounge in cheek" answer. I have no problem with firearms used legitimately for sport or hunting or even personal protection, by responsible persons. . . it is however, a fact that countries with much stricter gun laws have much lower criminal homicides, accidental gun deaths, etc. I suppose it depends on how much you value what. One of my "kids" a dedicated gun owner and sport shooter, lost a son to either accidental shooting or suicide. . . it was his own gun, he was 18, and had been drinking. . . makes you stop and think, doesn't it. This kid had been trained in gun safety from the time he could walk!
Yes, no matter how trained some people are, there can and will be tragedies. Your "facts" are totally wrong, however. According to all law enforcement reports including the FBI, the States that have enacted Shall Issue laws and have the highest rate of firearms ownership also have the lowest violent crime rates and license posessors are mong the most law-abiding. The truth does not agree with your "facts".
It seems an odd phenomenon lately. Many gun owners running into turbulent waters while in possession of their entire arsenal of firearms. Happened to me just last week. Didn't see that big wave coming. My boat capsized and all my guns sank to the bottom of the ocean. Davey Jones must be a gun nut.
federal gun grab is coming-- trust me. cornwallis's greatest priority was to find the rebel munition depot, no other greater priority. the men that had a boating accident will be interrogated and jailed. what is so sad about the anti gun posts on this thread is that these dear folks think we are the enemy and that blackwater is coming to their house bek they like them and want to help them.

Fortunately the founding fathers wrote laws that prohibit your sentiments from being reality.
I tried to rep you and wasn't allowed to do it so I will write a bit in support of you.
Just today I told my wife that some people want to rid the people of this nation of their guns to make it easier to take things over illegally without having to fear the people who own guns and are willing to use them to maintain what we have and get back what has been taken away. Why is it that it is always progressives who want so badly to throw the 2nd Amendment awy? I think they know something that the dupes that support them haven't figured out yet.
That is obviously not even close to the definition of "well-regulated". (Referring to the post of "two legs and a trigger finger")
"Why don't we dump them, people To the bottom of the sea Before some old fool come 'round here Wanna shoot either you or me?"
I guess you have seen that sign I saw the other day that said, "You can have my guns right after I run out of bullets." Now those words tell me that the author was warning those who want to illegally take his guns away from him that they stand a good chance of getting shot, or at least shot at, if they do come after his guns.

We could always pry them out of his cold, dead hands--if we can even FIND his hands after blowing him to bits. You know, they have these things called explosives now?
And our founding fathers are NOT living today. We have evolved and moved away from the wild, wild west.
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government
Sounds like a timeless statement to me, removing the variables of slave ownership, rural living and the confusion of the word "militia" in the 2nd amendment. But then again, I'm sure Jefferson was just a racist slaveowning terrorist, right?
