Still waiting for photos of foreign leaders bowing to Obama. If it is a cultural tradition outside of the US then shouldn't those photos be plentiful? Shouldn't foreign leaders meet Obama bow for bow?
Still no photos of foreign leaders bowing to Obama?
I was a little surprised that he wasn't taught proper bow technique in reference with Japanese tradition.
Bowing is serious business in Japan. It's from the waist; he bent his neck down first and then went down. You have to imagine as if there is a straight board on your back from head to waist.
I know picky, picky; but there is a thing called protocal.
People really are clueless when it comes to the customs of other countries. This has nothing to do with being a super power, or being weak...it has EVERYTHING to do with being respectful of the country he is entering and the hosts that are entertaining him.
No wonder we as Americans get laughed at so often for our lack of intelligence.
You REALLY should not be questioning ANYONE's intelligence. What a ridiculous statement. Bowing is a demonstration of respect to one's superior .. not simply a display of respect. Just as one salutes a superior in the military.
But, Queens do not curtsy to other Queens, and Kings do not bow to other Kings. And the President of the United States does not bow to any foreign head of state !!!!!!!!! E V E R ! It's a display of inferiority, and subservience.
And he really shouldn't be bowing to the mayor of Tampa Florida either ... what is your brilliant explanation for that? Hmmmm?
Well it is customary to give reverence and respect to mayors of states that start with "F" ? It's an age old tradition ... everyone knows that!
God... or Allah?? I sometimes believe it should be God, other times I hear Bama and say "no, he meant Allah".

1) I have never seen any and I doubt any exists. I have a photo of an anti-American leader humiliating Obama during a meeting.
2) Yes, the breaking of eye contact has to do with submission. The image here is the USA submitting to other countries, one of which (China) is a state enemy of the United States seeking to manipulate US foreign policy through controlling money lent to the US and by threatening to cut loans or raise interest rates on loans if the US doesn't do as they dictate.

When you pray, you bow to God, not the Pope. See, your ignorance of religion has shown itself here. Here is a sample of a group praying. No one is bowing to another human, but to God, in reverence.

China will never bow to Obama. The boss does not bow to the employee. China is Obama's boss, so they will not bow to Obama. Yet expect to see lots of kow-towing of Obama to the Chinese, as long as Obama keeps running $2+ Trillion per yer deficits.

That is an excellent point. Bowing is a salute to a superior, just as we see in the military. Do you ever see a general saluting a private first.... or does the general just respond with a brief/quick salute back??
I will greet the mayor of San Francisco with a "F" any day of the week! LOL
