they would make an big error by not attending the televised summit on health care offered by President Obama. They finally have been offered a seat at the table in an open summit. They need to show up

I disagree.

The public wants congress to start over on HC reform...from scratch.

The public does not like either of the bills in congress.

The democrats refuse to start over...they just want a "show" meeting so they can say the republicans are unwilling to negotiate, when their intention all along is to continue trying to pass these very unpopular bills.

Why should the republicans pull their butts out of the fire? The democrats OWN, lock, stock and barrel the legislation, we have them on record voting for these monstrosities on a party line vote.

As Boehner and McConnell stated - IF the presidents agrees to start over from scratch, they would be willing to sit down at the table.

The GOP has the American people on their side.

Judging by one of your threads the NeoConfused public wants the US to spend more on healthcare in Africa while telling Americans to fend for themselves.

Is that the plan to expect from the GOP if we start over?

The problem is many GOPer's want to sit back and just be obstructionist, instead of actually doing anything for health care. Just saying no to whatever ideas come from the other party instead of putting forward any changes or ideas themselves is not policy or politics, it's the terrible two's. Honestly I believe they need to say to the GOP that they need to write down changes, write up a draft of something new, or just put what is there forward. Nothing will change if they are jut allowed to hold things up by saying "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO", it won't end.

They have put their ideas out there:
Quote:
  • Number one: let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines.
  • Number two: allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do.
  • Number three: give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs.
  • Number four: end junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.
Health Care - GOP Solutions for America - GOP.gov

I think the entire health care debate needs to start over from scratch with both parties given equal space at the table.

They are kind of between a rock and a hard place on this one. If they attend, they will be exposed. If they don't, they will be exposed. Pretty shrewd move on the part of the President.

It seems worse than that. The right apparently has no problem agreeing to spend $$$ in other countries while telling Americans spending $$$ on them would be SOCIALISM!

It's time to bring back the America First! movement.

The public has the GOP on there side for the moment. What a better forum televised to go in say lets start over. They can stick top their guns by showing up and staying to a principle.
If the democrats want a show meaning then lets show them. Not showing up makes republicans look like what they claim they are obstructionist. Show up its televised make the point for the American people. An open forum to show america what it is about. Do not no show .

The GOP should make a deal only to show up if they can proclaim their plan freely in front the cameras also. Otherwise - stay away.
