Both parties will lose seats and gain seats for the foreseeable future. If these people are the reason, its both scary and sad.

Ill-informed, full of ginned up outrage, and above all selfish. They don't give a rat's ass about anyone other than themselves. They don't want their tax dollars benefiting anyone other than them. So disheartening to see people so selfish, so uninformed and so full of misdirected hate.

No. There's also no official hierarchy or leader, either, despite what many here and in the MSM would like you to believe.

The movement is (oh, I'm gonna get hammered for this one) structured similar to a terrorist organization. (Hey! Lefties! Note the bold word there! That's where the similarities end!) There is no real "leader." It's made up of small, local groups of people who have roughly similar ideas and goals. They generally congregate and communicate using an umbrella name for the movement, but each group is independent of the others in every way.

Now before you guys jump on me for using the words "terrorist organization," I strongly suggest that you re-read the above paragraph in its entirety. Those that still elect to claim that I'm suggesting that the tea party protesters are terrorists will be swiftly called out for the idiots that they are. You have been warned.

Did they push you over the edge when BUSH started them?

To me it looks like he found only the nut cases that are bound to gather at any political event. I've seen other video from the convention and I've been to local Tea Party events. 99% of the attendees are average Americans who now want their voices heard. You can't tell I'm a 'wing nut' by looking at me but based on a lot of derogatory descriptions that are thrown around this forum, I fit right in.
If the description fits...

Actually, we are very aware that as individuals we have very little power. But as a collective group, we are very powerful. I think that is evident in the governors' races in NJ and VA as well as Scott Brown in MA. In the final days of the race, I along with thousands of my evil black rifle loving friends at (I'll leave this blank due to OPSEC) gave upwards of $40,000 to the Brown campaign. We will probably do the same for Lt. Col. Allen West of Florida's 22nd district. I know that closer to home we are already working on getting the correct person to run against the incumbent in Mississippi's 1st district race.
That's why you vote. And Obama got voted in, while the Rs got voted out.

So I don't mind the name calling or the media covering the nut jobs. That leaves more time for the rest to do real work on the campaigns that mean something to us.
And you lost the last election.

Wow. That's really clever.

Here's what I support:

Social Welfare Programs-- So poor women and children and those who are disabled can survive...

Universal Single Payer Healthcare-- Funded by tax dollars so your medical treatment is not dependent on your ability to pay,

Continuation social security benefits-- So our elderly don't have to worry in their old age.

Strong public education-- Well funded schools with higher teacher pay and progressive innovation in programming to prepare a 21st century workforce

Decriminalization of soft drugs-- Time to stop using our jails to punish crimes that have no victim.

Increased mental health programs-- Its time to really take care of our mentally ill citizens.

As a single gay male who won't have any children and who earns almost 200K a year, I am perfectly willing to pay more taxes to benefit society as a whole. None of what I support will benefit me personally except in securing a strong healthy future for our country.

What are you willing to pay more taxes for? Who do you want your taxes to help? Now who's the selfish one?

They can't even state even the most basic argument to back up the claims they are parroting about socialism, etc...

Yes. They don't want to pay higher taxes. And they don't like any programs that benefit the poor, the disabled-- essentially anyone other than themselves.

You very clearly have no idea what the tea party movement is about, and your ignorance is on display for everyone reading to observe.

Oh, you're right. I forgot to indicate the Tea Parties are also about racism and conspiracy theories spouted by jingoistic ignoramuses. (Look it up).

So then, enlighten us, then. What is the tea party about in your estimation?

Here's a pretty good description of what I believe the Federal government should be doing:

The United States Constitution - The U.S. Constitution Online - USConstitution.net

Trick question. What taxes are you referring to? If you're talking about federal taxes, see above. States and municipalities can do what they like, and as long as it's within the boundaries of their own constitutions, then I have no problem with it.

There's nothing selfish about wanting to decide for ones self how best to spend or distribute money earned. There are plenty of charitable organizations that deal with pretty much everything you listed. I don't need the government to decide for me how I should be allocating my funds or who deserves more for what.

It seems to me that YOU'RE the selfish one, as you want the decision YOU made (or didn't make, since you're willing to let the government do your deciding for you) to be forced upon everyone else, leaving them without the option of selecting what causes they wish to support.

I have no problem helping others, and I'm willing to do it with not only with my money, but also my time. I do have a problem with the government forcibly taking my money and spending ungodly amounts of it in ways that I completely disagree with - it not in principle, then by the sheer unconstitutional nature of it.
