It's amazing what you might read if you let gunnuts preselect all your news sources for you.

Since 1999, here are the murders and populations of towns sin that area: (From city-data.com)

Kennesaw, 21,000, 4 murders
Acworth, 11,000, 1 murder
Alpharetta, 34,000, 5 murders
Duluth, 22,000, one murder.

I'm not imporessed. At least, there aren't very many gun nuts in Kennesaw driving out to unarmed and defenseless neighboring towns and killing very many people.

According to City-data.com. Kennesaw has had 4 murders since 1999. Nearby Acworth GA, with about half the population of Kennesaw, had one murder since 2001. Murder rate in Kennesaw then is about double that of the next town over. I guess not many of the armed people from Kennesaw drive over to Acworth and kill defenseless people, which I suppose is a good thing.
Nice.
Links?
Information on Marietta , other bordering towns.
How about Atlanta , a few miles down I-75.

How about prior conviction information on the murderers , and , did they live in Kennesaw?

Any "prohibited persons" involved in the murders?

I gave you my link---crime stats at city-data.com. I've since amended my post to include two more comparable towns. If you want to spend the day looking up the crime stats for every g-d town in Georgia, be my guest.

Convince me that the murder rate in Kennesaw would be the same as in Atlanta if there were not mandatory guns. And convince me that the murder rate in little Middletown Illinos is the same as Chicago and St. Louis, becuae they have no mandatory gun law either. If I looked things up and found that I was as wrong as you gun nuts, I'd at least be smart enough to keep my mouth shut.

...Yawn...

Edit to add: DC v Heller making you a little irritable these days?

Besides the law has some loop-holes:
It does not apply to "prohibited persons" or persons whose personal beliefs prohibit violence in defense of the innocent.
The law , IIRC , only applies to male heads of households , quaint but perhaps an echo of gentiler times.
Of course it is never inforced , the law is mainly symbolic-- much like many gun control laws.
End Edit.

Let's move from the gun infested sunny South to:
" The Spirit of the true north , proud and free...."
of military looking semi-auto's.
Or not.
Here are 2 Canadian retail web sites:

Enjoy.

City of Kennesaw 1981 (Year Before Gun Law Passed)
Population: 5,242
Total Part 1 Crimes: (per 100,000 pop): 4,332

City of Kennesaw 2005
Population: 28,189
Total Part 1 Crimes (per 100,000): 2,027 -7% from 2004

U.S. Average 2005
Total Part 1 Crimes per 100,000: 3,899

Summary: Although the population of the City of Kennesaw and surrounding area has increased dramatically since 1981, on a per capita basis crimes rates were actually lower in 2005 than in 1981.

Who moved into Kennesaw over those 24 years? Well, upscale professional folk out of Atlanta, that's who. Not big crime-doers, that bunch. Maybe lying about their golf scores, but that's about it...

Reality:
I just moved to Kennesaw a few months ago from the far Northeast:
Kennesaw is a comfortable middle class community , but upscale is a bit of a stretch. We moved there , in part , because of the lower crime.
The reputation of Kennesaw as Guntown , USA attacts a lot of new residents. It amazed me that so many Whole Foods employees lived in Kennesaw. That includes many new US citizens and soon-to-be citizens.
Why Kennesaw? In private conversation , almost all say something about :
More guns = less crime.

We will be closing on our new home in Cherokee County today , but an apartment in Kennesaw was a fast option with 10 days lead time from hire to 1st day on the job.

We already have a waiting list , focused mainly on new citizens and soon-to-be's , who want to go shoot guns.
Bill of Rights and all that. The huge amount of media coverage after DC v Heller focused attention on the issue.
People from Senegal to Pakistan, the list is long.

Perhaps the gun ban advocates should find a new hobby.
We won . You lost. Get over it.

Go look at the demographics of Kennesaw from 1980. Compare to today. Meanwhile, have you read the new DC Gun Control Law? You may one day count yourself among the growing number of gun-rights advocates concluding that Heller has been the worst thing that's ever happened to them...
