Why hurt the little churches/little guy? But I have learned Dems end up hurting the little guy anyway. They tax everything and the little guy pays more with his small income, and gets poorer. They would tax air if they could. Of course, the air around the places they live and work would be off limits.
I have gone to some who could hardly keep their doors open. When was the last time you were in a church, if I may ask? Just wondering. Those who aren't involved seem to know the most.
Nothing in the FFRF suit would alter the 501(c)(3) deduction as it pertains to church charitable work. The suit challenges only the so-called "parsonage allowance" established in 26 USC 107...
In the case of a minister of the gospel, gross income does not include—
(1) the rental value of a home furnished to him as part of his compensation; or
(2) the rental allowance paid to him as part of his compensation, to the extent used by him to rent or provide a home and to the extent such allowance does not exceed the fair rental value of the home, including furnishings and appurtenances such as a garage, plus the cost of utilities.
Notice that it is the tax code that introduces the limiting phrase "minister of the gospel". The provision was established by Congress in 1954 as a means of providing support to ministers of the gospel as they led the fight to protect our nation from the perils of godless Communism. Maybe the emergency is over on that front?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see Hindus or Buddhists trying to influence US politics. I don't follow their beliefs, but I respect them more since they keep it to themselves.

You want to bet. We are getting closer to socialist/communist everyday. Haven't you noticed?

Too many of the people of the left either don't know about what is going on or they are very happy to see it happening. They think that freedom from religion is for just that and can't see that it is also freedom of religion.
I see you boys and girls are driving in the hyper-confused lane. There is nothing remotely resembling socialism/communism anywhere on the horizon, and freedom of religion does not imply a tax-free house.

I've been to churches that were in need of major repairs. Guess what? At every single one, the pastor was driving some nice luxury car. It's not a matter of needing money. It's a matter of spending it on things other than the church. Religion makes money. Just look at L. Ron Hubbard.
