on the topic of the allegations of those black congressman, who said they were spat on and called racial slurs, on the Tea Party movement, on the history of the racist democrat party.
All the video we have seen says these congressmen were lying, all the pics show their march was widely photographed and videoed, not one shred of evidence that anything they alleged actually happened.
It was CONSERVATIVES who were in control of the Democratic Party in the south during that time period, and yes they were racist. They also left the Democratic Party in volumes after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, and is the group the GOP targeted in the 60's and 70's. CONSERVATIVES.

Oh hogwash. Democrats one and all and they still have the distinction of having the only KKK Grand Dragon as one of their own. Sheets Byrd.

The Democratic Party of that era had two very distinct wings. The northern liberal wing, and the southern conservative wing. It was the southern conservative wing of the Party that were racists. It was also that southern conservative wing of the Party that broke away from the Democrats after the passage of the Civil Rights Act. It were those southern conservative racists who Goldwater appealed to in 1964, and Lee Atwater's whole southern strategy under Nixon was focused on.

P.S Thanks for the bridge
"Dixiecrats" like George Wallace: "Segregation yesterday, Segregation today, and Segregation tomorrow!"
Until he had to yield to federal troops to allow blacks to attend public schools.
I guess the OP wants to believe that all Democrats are alike and will defend the actions of each other. Personally, I think the Dixiecrats were intolerant bigoted racists and should not be Democrats. Good riddance!

It was a Republican that enacted the Civil Rights Act of 1957. JFK was against it himself as the Democratic Senator of Massachusettes. Democrats were also heavily against Civil Rights Act of 1964. Al Gore's father voted against it himself as a Senator of Tennesee. Republicans in that era were not philosophically "liberal minded" Democrats back then. They were certainly "conservative" on a number of issues as they are today.
