Today, Neil Cavuto.....Waxman, Stupak calling for heads of ATT, Deere, Caterpillar to testify about their recent statements claiming they'll take financial hits from healthcare reform. They've been asked to supply emails and other supporting documents.
I need to read up on this. It's either a witch-hunt designed to excoriate businesses for embarrassing Democrats mere hours after the bill passed, or its meant to find out how bad Democrats' f*cked up with this piece of legislation.
Either way, it doesn't look good. But reality sucks sometimes. Democrats should have read the bill.

And what if the numbers that are being thrown by these corporations are complete garbage? It's very interesting that you take the word of a corporation without question it at all.

Listening to Cavuto I got the idea that it is a witch hunt and can never be seen any other way. He interviewed a CEO of a steel company that had told them it would force them to raise prices and they are now competitive internationally. That would cease to be. He thinks it is a witch hunt because he and others weren't told to report for questioning.
Waxman knows he is in deep sh*t and maybe can't get out. Of course, old Stupid Stupak knows he screwed the duck when he let Obama buy him out.

The latter.

Publicly-traded companies have way more to lose by fudging numbers than some Trial By Hanging Gestapo Court held by a bunch of embarrassed Democrats. And for that reason, I trust that SEC rules have more sway than Stupak and the other numb-nuts running around the halls of Congress.
There is the real problem for all the Dems, they should have read the bill. The corporations are doing just that and this is the reason that corporate heads get paid more than the line workers in their factories. I guess most Dems don't know that Andy Stern gets paid a whole lot more than the average SEIU stooge.

Question, what would be the motive for falsifying their perceived expenditures? The bill has already passed and become law. If there was the motive of swaying public (and congressional) opinion by putting out cost estimates of the bill, then maybe there is some merit to your claim.
Sounds to me more like a witch hunt. Are these CEO's under some court order to testify? If not, I'd give Obama the finger.
