The corporations at the top own the Republican Party and rent the Democrats. Why is anyone surprised by pro business legislation?

Happy Texan summarized the problem. Short term gain is more important than anything else no matter what it costs workers, customers or the public.

Short term gain is the stupid-greed of conservatives that wipes out the long term, in much the same way inflation devastates.

Grab all you can now you fat Republicans, because there may not be a tomorrow.

The creed of a two year old.

China must be the adult in this whole affair.

Quarterly gains - what a buncha dumbasses.

Republicans live quarterly lives.

They just don't get the metric system!

Did labor buy the corporations, or did the corporations incorporate labor?

Corporatism is such a b*tch!

I'd say both. Irrelevant at this point, anyway, as it's a done deal.

Those who attack big business and corporate profits are attacking their own pensions/401k's, etc. How many of them are aware of that fact?

"Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse,
Always having dirt
To play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt,
Always have clean shirts
To play around in.

In their sties, with all their backing,
They don't care what goes on around.
In their eyes, there's something lacking;
What they need's a damn good whacking!

Everywhere there's lots of piggies,
Living piggy lives.
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives,
Clutching forks and knives
To eat their bacon."

Album: White Album
