Well, I don't think the guy I is a coward and I don't know if he is racially motivated. What I do think is that the guy, like a whole lot of people has been played by right wing loonies who don't give a damn about this guy except how they can use him to push their own agenda.
The irony of course being if any other military member tried to back out of a deployment for conscientious reasons - most of these same chickenhawks would want to tar and feather them.
But because this guy comes up with a birther excuse to back out of his commmitments during a time of War suddenly he is a "man of principles".
