No childish diversion, how many times have mentioned purse and shoes on this thread. A healthy male normally would not notice a young girls purse or shoes. A happily married male definitely would not be paying attention to a little girls purse or shoes.

Did you actually see their tax documents to know exactly what deductions/credits they took? Maybe they bragged just because they knew it would get under your skin and they did not actually receive those deductions.
5500 in tax credits, then he filed hoh, and then he gets to claim his wife as a dependent. He probably paid in about 5000 in taxes, which he would have gotten back even before the child tax credit.
Yeah, I can believe it. However, this thread isn't about the child tax credit.
Its about education tax credits. You get to write off any expenses that are school related, and any interest paid on student loans.
He is also going to school at night i forgot to mention,i think they took student loans out for his school and he gets a check from the governemt monthly becuase of serving in the marines about 10 years ago which they use for their bills.
Also they are very "rebublican" and i guess im more of a liberal, i told them one day when the country is fixed you wont be getting that money anymore to help pay their bills, instead some ceo will get to keep more of his 10million dollar salary.

I'm surprised that the parents are not supportive of their children receiving tax credits for their education. If this story is actually true, then I'd wonder what type of environment these women grew up in for the parents to react with disgust over educational credits.
The child tax credit is 1,100 per child. If he is claiming his children as dependents, thats 2200 of that 3500. Now we are down to 1300 dollars, and probably 1000 of that is EIC (earned income credit).
The OP is complaining about the education credits his daughters got. In reality, its the child tax credit that garnered them such a high return, as was for the guy that you mentioned above.
If y'all want to complain about the child tax credit, I suggest you start another thread. This one is about education tax credits, which in my mind, serve only as a reward for trying to further yourself in society.
1-Do you realize this nation is trillions of dollars in debt?
2-At what age does a person come responsible for their own life? I am all for someone attending college but shouldnt that person be paying for it? What message are we sending. Oh you get a reward for doing something your suppose to or should do.
Shouldnt the reward being earning more then 30k a year?

The parents, like me and my wife, have worked our behinds off and paid taxes all our lives. These parents realize that their children think there is money for nothing. My friends cut them off a long time ago for "loans" when they realized that they were using the "loan" money to live a life style they could not afford. This is the future of America.
