The analysis was done by Health and Human Services headed by an Obama appointee Kathleen Sebelius.

I have numerous times. More Socialist Countries have higher standards of living. Blue States have higher standards of living. It's borne out in almost every pertinent statistic. Higher household incomes, higher SAT scores, lesser rates of uninsured, more college graduates, less rates of teenage pregnancy, less rates of divorce.

No kidding? And this is your what they said....Your "disaster".

The increase, however, will only be about one percent — or $311 billion out of a total of $35 trillion that will be spent on health care over the course of the decade.

Oh my! 1%!.........How will we pay for that when we need all those Aircraft carriers, and Nuclear weapons, and foreign bases....??????

We're doomed!......LOL

Mmmm you may want to look a little closer.

Payback Time - Deficit Crisis Threatens Ample Benefits of European Life - NYTimes.com

"With low growth, low birthrates and longer life expectancies, Europe can no longer afford its comfortable lifestyle, at least not without a period of austerity and significant changes. The countries are trying to reassure investors by cutting salaries, raising legal retirement ages, increasing work hours and reducing health benefits and pensions."

"Figures show the severity of the problem. Gross public social expenditures in the European Union increased from 16 percent of gross domestic product in 1980 to 21 percent in 2005, compared with 15.9 percent in the United States. In France, the figure now is 31 percent, the highest in Europe, with state pensions making up more than 44 percent of the total and health care, 30 percent."

Where's the reform? In case you missed the boat this is on projected costs which are spiraling out of control. When someone in the US says they support health care reform what they support is getting control of the staggering and never ending increases in the cost. This bill does nothing to address those issues, the people supporting the sytem will see nothing from this bill except an increase.

Unfortunaley it is more than 1 car. PIIGS (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain) are pretty much in the same boat. The rest of Europe is on the brink.

Now you go git and get yourself some learnin'. You can start with the Times article I linked.

There was little reform. All the GOP combined with a handful of Blue Dog Democrats combined forces to defeat the reform portions, the biggest being the public option that would have put pricing pressure on medical providers.

The only hope for reform is for it to be done piece meal with legislation.

The GOP will fight that of course and you will support them doing so.
