To be fair, Cinco de Mayo is more of a Mexican-American holiday. The day isn't all that celebrated in Mexico.

That's true, but they never miss an opportunity to ham it up in mexico proper for tourists. It's fun either way. From what I've seen mexicans take the attitude of an opportunity to have a cook out the same way some americans have about labor day (without honoring the purpose of the holiday).

Why would there be a need to get back at the Mexicans?

I can see wanting to get back at the actual illegals, or get back at the US officials for not enforcing the borders, or get back at the ones who hire illegals.

I boycotted St. Patricks's day to get back at the Irish...mainly for giving us Riverdance and Sinead O'Connor. And Bono.

Talking Sinko de Mayo!

The Hellman’s Mayonnaise Company, based in England in 1912, had several hundred cases of their condiment aboard the Titanic bound for the ship's second port of call after New York – Vera Cruz, Mexico. When the Titanic sunk the Mexicans were so distraught they had a national day of mourning, which is still recognized today as "Sinko de Mayo."

I've never bothered with Cinco de Mayo. I am not a Mexican. I will however boycott the The Phoenix Suns forever.

Well, dog my cats! Could be he was confused by Scott Forbes as Jim Bowie. Did you know that he was a fearless and fightin' and mighty adventurin' man?
