People and cultures are different, to think they are going to agree on a monolithic set of "human right" is arrogant and impossible.
Amnesty International is a good place to start. Amnesty International | Working to Protect Human Rights

Just because human rights is a subjective concept doesn't make it any less valid or valuable a concept to work towards giving to all people everywhere. Cultures do change over time as they become better educated. Female circumcision is barbaric and should not be forced upon girls/woman. We might not stop it in our time on earth but eventually it will end because of people who fight for good causes outside of their own little comfort zones.

Amnesty International has their own agenda, they want to promote liberalism and feminism. You think female circumcision is barbaric, and they might think anal sex or abortion is barbaric. Different strokes for different folks, keep you nose out of their business when they are doing stuff in their own country.

If you want to see how barbaric it is you can go to youtube to see it done. I think they still have a tape of it there, I don't want to post it here, it's so awful.

I think organizations like the Peace Corps or Missionaries going to these countries and speaking up against it would help to stop it.

What if everyone had had that attitude in this country, say back when women were fighting to get the vote or during the Civil Rights Movement? Minding one's business is a poor excuse for not speaking up and/or doing the right thing. The smaller our world gets, the more outside influence there will be on cultures that still practice barbaric customs like female circumcision. It's called progress.

As for Amnesty International having their own agenda of promoting liberalism and feminism---- you say that like it's a bad thing. However, you are wrong that they only focus on topics that effect women. They work on a wide range of things like: the arms trade, child soldiers, inhumane prisons, war, international justice, indigenous people's rights, etc. You probably hear more about issues effecting women because American womens groups have taken up so many of international human rights issues that effect women.

The West allows the murdering of unborn children in the womb, they don't have a right to preach morals to anyone. Abortion is a walk in a park compared to female circumcision.

Walk in the park?? Hell, it's infanticide pre-natal infanticide. Murder of those of us unlucky enough to be residing (albeit temporarlity) in a womb. It's like a law-free zone. "Feel free to main and murder here folks, 'cause there is no law agin it"!
