Rand Paul's defense of BP is raising eyebrows, much like his stance on civil rights and private business. His statement that "sometimes accidents just happen" simplifies a larger problem with giving big oil a pass in regulations and safety precautions.
Maybe he shoudl explain his "Accidents happen" theory to the people in LA and FL, who will be cleaning up this mess for decades.
WASHINGTON -- Taking another unconventional stand, Kentucky's Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul criticized President Barack Obama's handling of the Gulf oil spill Friday as putting "his boot heel on the throat of BP" and "really un-American."
Paul's defense of the oil company came during an interview as he tried to explain his controversial take on civil rights law, an issue that has overtaken his campaign since his victory in Tuesday's GOP primary.
What a nut. Like his father he longs for the "good" old days of plantations and slavery..
Looks like the "honest" Paul is now changing his tune being in full scale damage control mode:
Quote:
"Paul told CNN he would have voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act, a statement he declined to make one day earlier" on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show. Maddow asked: "Do you think that a private business has the right to say we don't serve black people?" Paul answered: "Yes..
I don't take his criticism of Obama's us vs. them, pot stirring lawyer mentality as a defense of BP.
Nowhere in the article does Paul absolve BP of responsibility.
Quote:
On the oil spill, Paul, a libertarian and tea party favorite, said he had heard nothing from BP indicating it wouldn't pay for the spill that threatens devastating environmental damage along the Gulf of Mexico coast.
"And I think it's part of this sort of blame-game society in the sense that it's always got to be somebody's fault instead of the fact that maybe sometimes accidents happen," Paul said.

Attention liberals, we know you hate Ron Paul and we knew you would hate Rand Paul because they stand for the same things. There's no need to waste tons of your time throwing our race cards 24/7. We know you think he's a racist and we know you're wrong.

Dont you ever get tired of being so honest about your lies? Lookup the rights of individuals to own property THEY PAID FOR.. And then talk to me about the "good old days"..
I saw his father a few years ago on C-SPAN. He was asked about the Chinese toys that were discovered to have contained lead. The woman asked him if he believed the U.S. needed to regulate importation of toys from China because of this problem, and Paul said no. When asked about the children in the U.S. who would surely die if the toys weren't inspected, he said, "Well, sometimes that's the price we have to pay to live in a truly free society".
Libertarianism. It sounds nice in principle, but a purely libertarian society would be a disaster.

You are assuming individuals would buy toys with led based paint if the government didnt ban it.. I for one wouldnt, but if you would, then that says more about yourself than anything I could ever post..
