Today Obama blamed Bush again. He has had ample time to put his plans and people in place and he clearly does not know how to handle a disaster like this. He is no better than Bush with Katrina. In fact, his lack of concern while the immigration debate rages and the oil keeps coming is shocking. Go play golf Mr. Obama. We are safer with you out of the White House.

The people he has given high priority positions too may be feeling the pressure of actually having to do the job they were appointed to.

Government seems to want to controls and regulate everything but when "sh*t happens" they can't do squat.

Maybe more state level oversight is needed as they can react quicker to problems in their state.
Let the Fed write the rules but let the states regulate and enforce them.

Smaller Federal government and more power to individual states. The states know which rules and regulations are important to them. Jindal LIVES down there, he sees the oil washing up on the shores while the EPA head up in DC expressed shock when she flew down and saw oil in the water..shock !

A Plan, by the way that is mandated by federal law.

BP Disaster Plan Lacked Realistic Solutions - Newsweek

Why Wasn’t There A Better Plan?

From the “top kill” to the containment dome to the riser insertion tube, BP has been desperately searching for a way to contain the spill currently raging in the Gulf of Mexico. The company has assured the public that, with the help of experts from around the world, its engineers are working hard to examine any and all possible ideas in order to find a viable solution, but they also seem to be scrambling, and are up against the clock to get results fast.
There is also a technique for handling an oil spill out sea called "In-Situ Burn." In Situ Burning | NOAA (http://response.restoration.noaa.gov/topic_subtopic_entry.php?RECORD_KEY%28entry_subtop ic_topic%29=entry_id,subtopic_id,topic_id&entry_id %28entry_subtopic_topic%29=225&subtopic_id%28entry _subtopic_topic%29=8&topic_id%28entry_subtopic_top ic%29=1 - broken link)

As liberal columnist Kirsten Powers put it:

Ron Gourget, a former federal oil-spill-response coordinator and one author of the draft, told the Times of London: "The whole reason the plan was created was so that we could pull the trigger right away." The idea was to use barriers called "fire booms" to collect and contain the spill at sea -- then burn it off. He believes this could have captured 95 percent of the oil from this spill.

But at the time of the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the federal government didn't have a single fire boom on hand. Nor is there any evidence that the government required BP to have any clear plan to deal with a massive spill. How is this OK?

Oil's what we live on.
Sure, those structures including corruption and lobbying are old and probably it will take some time to get rid of them. But if the government does not regulate, companies will do so even less. Just look at the way BP has been polluting the oil region in Nigeria for decades. If that were going on in the the US it would long have become a huge scandal.

Obama stated at the press conference the other day that his administration had been there from day one...so it would seem this would mean this disaster has been under their control from the very beginning.

Now as to the oil companies colluding with the government, well of course they are,the government is bought and paid for by large corporations...no matter what party is supposedly in power.

I might have missed it all but where is all the condemnation by environmental groups???

This is shaping up to be one of the biggest disasters in modern history and it is becoming more and more obvious that no-one was prepared for it...

And this isn't a scandel ? The MMS rubber stamping plans, not requiring permits, revolving door employment, partying and grafts ?

This is the regulatory body for the oil drilling. And you want MORE of this ?

Sorry for your luck too. As your masters want the tax payers to pay for cleaning up this mess...not BP:

GOP AGAIN BLOCKS HIGHER CAP ON OIL COMPANY LIABILITY
