"Some Gulf Coast watermen find BP’s desire to limit press access obvious. 'If there was a major fire in a warehouse, would you let reporters go inside and start taking pictures?' asks Peace Marvel, a charter-boat captain in Venice, La. Job one, he says, is to clean up the spill, and running members of the press around only gets in the way and makes things worse."
hussein obama, the self appointed dictator tries to put a stranglehold on any negative media that would prove what a failure he is.
Yo give it a break. Next thing you will spout is that Obama planned the whole friggin thing...Get over it Obama won and HE IS YOUR PRESIDENT AND YOU WILL DO AS YOU ARE TOLD AND LIKE IT.,,crybabys need to go to the childrens forums
by...BP? Now, pardon me, but who the hell put BP in charge of our coastal areas and waters? Who gave them the authority or more likely, who is "allowing" them to dictate the conditions by which media is allowed into these areas?
One guess?
If the public can't see the damage and destruction, then I guess they won't place blame were it belongs...right?
The FAA, CG and BP are working together - They are restricting flights with reporters and photographers aboard - normally, there are no such restrictions.
Why would there be now?
"Access has been hampered by a cumbersome approval process that stretched all the back to the White House.
Well, we can understand their reticence to allow reporters and photogs to see, print and air the devastation, can't we?
You need the WH to sign off before touring the spill zone.
Is this not the most incredible thing you've ever heard?
I agree! We should see the full cost of BP's greedy irresponsibility!
For the same reason, I felt it very wrong that the press was not allowed to take pictures or videos of the caskets of dead soldiers arriving back home from the Iraq war.
BTW Sanrene, glad to see you referencing links to the Huffington Post rather than Faux News! Welcome to the world of clarity!

The media--agree with them or not, it's not the issue, and our free speech is the best thing going for this country and our last leg to stand on but it's buckling out from under us since Obama and we're allowing it to happen. It's the last straw. If we allow this continue, we'll have nothing left. Even Obama supporters will suffer the results of this.

Right. Pictures have a much greater impact than watching talking heads on TV. But instead, we get loads of fluff. In any case I would not regard the US media to be a reliable source of reporting any events.
