Clearly, Israel used excessive force and this is inexcusable. Netanyahu's administration (like the last 2) has been reckless and shown little regard for human life.
That said, there is no doubt this was a provoked attack. Those who were funding the flotilla have said as much when they admitted that if Israel ended up attacking the activitsts, etc on the boat it would be a victory.
In the past, Israel has transferred international aid brought by such ships themselves, after filtering out an weapons. This ship refused to do so, and was attempting to bait Israel. This was a delibarate attempt to provoke Israel into doing something stupid, violent, and reckless. It clearly succeeded.
Thats a deliberate attempt to excuse the inexcusable. Your apologia for the Israeli Defense Forces is duly noted.
In the past Israel has NOT allowed either ships full of aid, or aid workers themselves, access into the Gaza Strip, often turning them away at gunpoint, arresting them and often holding them without charges.
They sure as hell weren't there to engage the people on the boat. If they had been, they would have been armed appropriately. They had no intention of killing anyone.
Wow, a clairvoyant. He knows the innocent IDF was not there to hurt anyone, and that it was all an "accident"...or maybe the IDF was scared for their life when they saw a pocketknife and decided to open fire.
Either way, the IDF clearly did not intend for this to happen, they were probably boarding with their own relief supplies to add to the cargo and something went terribly wrong
