Then why is one overpriced and the other reasonably priced?
Filet mignon vs. hamburger.
If you cannot tell the difference, save your money and eat the hamburger!
Personally, I rarely buy meat because of the poor quality in the past few years and when I do, it is Prime and well worth it.

Because that is how it is.
People will buy what THEY like to eat not what SOMEONE ELSE wants them to. Some people like filet mignon, some like burger.
I love chicken wings, some people prefer the white meat breasts. Should people on food stamps buy chicken wings because they are cheaper than breasts?
I have to agree that my tax money should not be used to be used to pay for someone to buy better food than I can afford on my teacher's salary. If they can afford to buy lobster, they don't need assistance. Most of the students at my school (78%) are on free or reduced lunch. Their parents drop them off in the mornings driving cars much nicer than I could ever afford. The students get out carrying fast food burger, shakes, and fries, and have chips and snacks in their backpacks. The kids (junior high) talk on cell phones that are much nicer than my trac phone. Then when they get their free or reduced lunch from the cafeteria, they dump half or more of it in the trash. One time I suggested that we should make the kids with free lunch come an hour early or stay an hour late and help clean the campus of all the litter they throw on the ground. The other teachers didn't appreciate the offer.

I'm not upset with what people buy--I'm upset with what they charge for it. I personally don't feel like meat is worth what they want to charge for it, so I hardly ever buy it. And that's really the only reason. I don't have anything against meat. But beef is beef, whether it's top sirloin or ground chuck.

Okay then, I'm with you on this one.
Most grocery items are way overpriced, meat especially. Your last sentence is what I was saying. Beef is beef...chicken is chicken. If someone on food stamps wants to buy the more expensive cuts then that is their business.

I'm always a fan of people who are living better lives due to the generosity of the community should be made to give back to that community in the form of public works. Whether its picking up trash or watching the kids of people who do work, there should be an equitable amount of time rendered in services for the assistance they recieve.

---then it's their business--
It shouldn't be when children are involved !
If parents can't afford to feed their kids w/o having the govt do it for them, they should not be blowing that food stamp money on lopbster.
By buying expensive food, they will run out of grocery money for the kids and the kids will go hungry.
If they can be buying expensive food and not run out of money, they don't need food stamps in the first place.
Since food stamp funding comes out of the farm bill, maybe it is time to make public the name, address, and amount $$$ of every person recieving food stamps.
Every farmer who recieves any money in subsidies from the farm bill is public record that can easily be accessed by anyone.
Why the double standard ?
Anyone want to explain why there is a double standard ?
