Hi Tom, we moved from MA to Vero Beach 6 years ago and we're hoping to move back to MA. The winter weather is phenomenal, you'll love sitting on your patio in Jan., Feb., and Mar. while NH is shoveling out but you'll feel upside-down with everyone you left behind because when they're celebrating Memorial Day as the beginning of a fresh new summer, you'll be dreading the start of another looong humid Florida summer. Friends and family won't come down to visit in droves like you thought they would because kids have school and it's expensive to fly during school winter vacations. Vero Beach is a lovely place, there's no real snowbird surge in winter as in other parts of Florida. But the restaurants are less than what you'll be leaving behind, the mall has a high vacancy rate, and you'll find yourself driving to Palm Beach Gardens or Orlando for good shopping and great restaurants. Vero Beach is close to everything, i.e., W. Palm Beach, Orlando, Melbourne, but it's near nothing. Each one of these places involve a fairly long drive. But welcome! It's always nice to have another New Englander around.

hey verobeach thanks for the reply but I read your other posts and they all seem to have a negative florida theme. Maybe you should get out and enjoy what Florida had to offer rather than making negative posts about Florida and other people's opinion of what Florida has to offer

Maybe I just don't like Florida. But hey, join the club. Too many people on this forum think if you don't think like they do then you're negative. You'll fit in fine.

Hi Tom, We moved down to Florida 10 years ago after living in N.H. 47 years. We should be closing on this house down here real soon and will be moving back to N.H. You really should move down to prove to yourself if lt's the place for you or not. It's really nice when you first get here. In fact i thought i was in paradise for the first 3 years or so, but like anything new, when the novelty wears off it really isn't that special. It's really nothing that a couple weeks in March won't take care of. We've been here for 10 years and have gotten out and taken advantage of what Florida has to offer(as i'm sure Verobeach has). You really don't realize what a important factor having 4 different seasons in you're life really is. Not sure exactly where you live up there but there's not a whole lot of places that i'd trade for what i've found down here in 10 years. Come on down, live here a few years and then you'll be entitled to a opinion too.

My mother is 61 and she loves the area. the weather is always good no snow shloving. Alot of retirees from all over the U.S. comes here almost zero crime rate. i would take a step back and you should physcial research the area before making the leap into parisdise. Tom: We are planning a similar move from Maine in about the same timeframe. I'd be interested in knowing why you are focusing on Vero Beach. That's one of the towns we are looking at, as well. But we're also considering Port St. Lucie and, possibly, Palm Bay. Would love to hear about the research you have done so far and what attracts you to Vero. Jim

I have lived on 5 Continents, and many islands in between. Have also owned homes & businesses in Mass. & N.H. I can tell you, without a doubt that Vero Beach is the BEST place to live, either year round or seasonally. Even though my job took me many places, Vero Beach has been my "home" for 30 years. You have to work a bit harder to get here, but that's what makes it and keeps it special!

Hi Yes we are going to rent for maybe 2 years as we are in no hurry and were trying not to make any missteps along the way. Thanks Tom
