My family may be relocating to Florida. Vero Beach has caught my eye. We are living North Myrtle Beach, SC now and like it, but are thinking of a fresh start in our favorite state. Anyway, I homeschool my 2 teens and would like a safe neighborhood, with a community pool, within 10 minutes of the beach. We are looking to rent around 1000 per month or so. Any info on the town, neighborhoods and shopping would be great! Thanks!

You don't mention if you need 2 or 3 bedrooms. With 2 teens, I'm thinking 3. If that is the case, you'll be looking at single family homes with private pools. I suggest you contact a good agent in Vero that specilizes in rentals. As for shopping, we have everything from an outlet mall to Ocean Drive boutiques. It's still a small town atmosphere, with lots of uncrowded beaches, parks, museums, and actually great schools if you ever desire to stop home schooling. Good-luck!

Recommend you take a look at Sebastian, which is about 10 miles north of Vero in the same county. I am a former resident of both North Myrtle Beach (Cherry Grove) & of Sebastian and woulf rate them roughly equivalent. I now live in Vero but suggest Sebastian because I believe rentals slightly more affordable, a fine public pool (North County Park) and the same school system. Good luck.

Hi - relocating to Vero Beach and need some suggestions for which communities might fit us best.

My wife and I are 62 are trying to sell home in NJ. Originally planning to move to Ormond Beach but wife wants to be closer to relatives in the WPB area. We have been to Vero area several times and liked Tradition in PSL but do not like the high HOA fees. While I know we should rent first we feel comfortable with buying in Vero Beach. I am now researching communities in Vero as we would like a low HOA fee community as we will purchase a house with pool and don't need community pool. Gated is fine, don't need 55+ community, $200-$250K range but well taken care of community. mixed age community works, homes on lakes is good, just don't need the community pool extra expense. Any suggestions on communities that we should be researching would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Default Ditto W peeples re: safety

I am on parr with Wpeeples in our home sale/search.
Just a note to thank all of you in VB/Sebastian area for commenting on
safety.
I have no problem saying I want to be around law abiding citizens.
As a matter of fact-I am biased in this respect so please.........

keep talking about safety.
I'll be the first big activist in the area if thugs try to
invade my new residential area, so consider your task a worthy one!

Proamerican without apology.
