Hi Everyone
My wife and I were looking at the Tradition area to purchase a home. We really, really like the area....However I was a little concerned to find out that we would only have one choice for an Internet Service Provider....Home Town Cable (I had never heard of them before) who has apparently made an exclusive deal with the Tradition HOA.

In doing a little research on this company...I have turned up only extremely negative reviews...like these:
Home Town Cable Plus - Port Saint Lucie, FL
https://plus.google.com/112507722303...ut?gl=us&hl=en

Now I know people are more likely to complain so I do take these reviews with a grain of salt.
However my business is dependent upon having reliable high-speed internet and I do need to be cautious.

This issue of forcing us to only have a choice of a single company for internet is giving me second thoughts about moving to the area...which is a real shame because we really do like the area.

I do know that Home Town Cable have a fiber optic network which is supposed to be quite fast and reliable...so these negative reviews about reliability were concerning.

I was hoping any current residents of Tradition could give me their opinion of the HTC internet service?
- Is it unreliable?
- Do you have any issues with HTC...or are you happy with the service?
- Is there a lot of down time?

Thank you!

FlaLadyB lived there for quite a few years- I'm sure she'll give you the skinny on them soon. I love Tradition too...but have decided not to live there myself. I can do alot with the 400+/mo in HOA fees that they charge. I'd rather fund a college acct for my kids than live there. We live 5 miles south. It's not the best area, but we have decent neighbors. Sometimes that is worth the sacrifice too!

OK. .have Hometown for 5+ years -- I have no problems with the service -- it stays on when others do not. Their min Internet service will not suit you unless you really don't use the computer much. You will have to upgrade. Mine is at double speed.. you may or may not need more. I LIVE on the computer and would probably upgrade it even more ...but thats also more money I don't need/want to spend. Up to you

They do have basic cable that is fine - 70 channels. You can add HD or whatever if you want to.

I DO NOT LIKE the total lack of customer service ....there isn't any!

considering the options of Comcast or them..... them... fiber optics stay UP.. they are under ground..

If my system was ever down it was at a min and something drastic had to have happened.

Other option for TV anyhow is Dish or Direct if and when the HOA lets you put in the equipment (which they will)

Coming from Comcast in MA I prefer Comcast but stuck with HTC. I have had very little issues with the Internet service but major issues with their TV system. It seems I have to reboot my TV cable box at least once a week sometime twice. I have called and called and they always getting it going again but I say to them, " am I the only one having this problem? "

Can you imagine someone with no electronic experience trying to fix their system. Good luck!

On a scale of 1-10 on internet service I rate it about 9. On the other hand the TV system I rate as a solid 5 ! :-(

HTC wired Tradition and they are your sole cable choice. Others I know have taken the HOA basic package through the HOA and then go to satellite providers for cable upgrades and internet service. I had HTC cable/internet service for seven years and used it for work and had no real issues with the speed or down time. The cable as someone else posted is somthing else, they are way behind the technology curve and I would not even give it a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.

You have it pretty good in tradition as far as different speed options go with HTC. You can get 50 mb download speeds for 69.99. I am moving into newport isles subdivision and the highest they offer is 16mb download for $74. I just don't understand the difference and why such lower speeds. Both are fiber optic. I have no other choice but to use them or use my cell phone as a wireless hotspot since I have unlimited data.

Drive around Palm Beach County and you will see billboards with Joe Namath advertising for a company that offers up to 50mb for $29.99 per month. So take the numbers in the previous post and add in another $30.00 a month from your Tradition HOA monthly bill for basis internet service and I am pretty sure that add up to $100 plus per month for high speed internet service.

Tradition's site says the HTC internet service there is high speed. Does anyone know just how fast? HTC's site shows options in Tradition from 20mb up to 100mb. I'm thinking that the stated "high speed" service in Tradition is less than 20mb?

We have HTC and don't have any issues with the internet, it is fast enough for our needs. We haven't streamed any movies so I can't comment on that. I know some people that work from home have upgraded their service but again it would depend on what their jobs are.
