I need to do some electricity work in my home. I need to apply for a permit. Anybody knows where to apply? Is it possible to apply online?

Apply through your city or county building or zoning office.

Not sure...it depends on the city or county. Some offer that service, but some don't.

No you cannot hire anybody without a commercial electrician permit. Commercial permit is expensive and hard to get. However, the home owner can get a homeowner exemption permit to work on his/her own home. You cannot sell or rent out the property for one year. That's how I understand and what they told me. Correct me if I am wrong.

No clue, I was only inquiring as to the level of work, be it simple like outlet replacement/installing fixtures etc. or if it was a larger remodel/run new circuit/upgrade box type work. Just curious as to what level of work you or anyone would consider "pulling permit worthy" so to speak

For my case I was doing some wiring behind dry wall. Installing new breakers and switches, installing smoke detectors etc. It is some significant work. The electrician quotes me 10K.
