Can anyone recommend a good urgent care? I've read not so good things about the one on Hwy 26 in Gresham. Maybe they're ok now, but I'd like to hear stories either way (good or bad). Thank you-injured my wrist and realize I've got to see a doctor and get it splinted. Have to go to Urgent Care because I am currently don't have health insurance.

I don't believe there are any regular posters who live out that way plus would have a lot knowledge of Urgent Care facilities out there.

You might want to try Zoomcare. They are excellent and will accept payment on a sliding fee scale.

For future reference:

I missed this, but in Gresham there is an urgent care at the intersection of Powell and Burnside. I haven't gone so I don't have any other info. It's a large one so you can't miss it (south east corner).

A smaller one back into town is on Stark and a mile east or west of 162nd. Sorry, I don't remember exactly, but it's on the south side. That one I have gone to and it was not bad. Shorter wait than the ER and it used to be a $50 flat fee.

Side note 1: You have a chiropractor but no insurance?

Side note 2: Have you tried getting on Oregon Health Plan? It's free or low cost.

(I saved $ by going to a chiro - an urgent care would have charged me 100 to walk in the door, 50 for an x-ray, and slapped some unnecessary meds on me which I have found are extremely expensive in Portland without insurance - so I'm guessing $100-200). For $45 I got excellent treatment and found I only had tendonitis.... nice laser and sonar treatment, bandage, ice pack no meds... good to go in two-three days. I thought I had a sprained or broken wrist, that's why I originally wanted an Urgent Care referral.)

I mentioned the Gresham one in my original post, it's gotten bad reviews online. A friend told me there is an urgent care in the Gateway district in the Mall 205 area but had no idea whether it was good or not.

Thanks for the tip about the one on Stark. I'm sure it's more than $50 by now! Most places charge at least $100 to walk in the door.

My chiro charges $45 for people with no insurance. He is excellent. If anyone wants his name, please send me a DM. He is in Portland, east side.

I'm on the waiting list for OHP Plus ("Plus" because I qualify for it-medical conditions). It takes a while to get on it even if your lottery number is by a miracle chosen.
