All this is going on this weekend;

Feast

Portland Riverfest

Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation Grand Opening

October Fest at Oak's Park

Portland Veg Fest

2012 Swift Watch

Polish Festival

Portland Street Car Central Loop Grand Opening

This is what makes Portland such a unique and great city. I've already gone to the Rail Heritage Foundation Opening and Street Car Grand Opening. I'm headed to a Yelp Elite event later tonight, afterwards we'll stop by October Fest. Tomorrow will be Veg Fest and likely the Polish Festival. Half of these events are free. The number of things to do drops off a bit as the weather changes, but it's still amazing at what can be done in this city.

Had a great time at the Polish Fest on Saturday night once again! I think I've gone almost every year since 2003.

Late summer/early fall is really the best time to be here. There's multiple festivals and events going on every week--pretty much into October. Great time to hit the trails in the mountains as well.

It's the fun time before it starts raining again and people go into hibernation. On the bright side though once the fall rains kick in around November, I get to catch up on reading all the books sitting around my house.

I don't hibernate when it rains, so if I do return to the Pacific Northwest, I will try and find something to do.

I happened into some tickets to the "High Comfort" part of Feast on Sat night and wow, that was amazing. Cool to get to meet and sample some offerings from the area's best chefs!

And even though I'm new here, Swift Watch is one of my favorite events of all time.

It was sort of a bit of hyperbole since people don't literally "hibernate"--but in general things to slow down a lot once fall gets going. In the summertime, I have more party invitations, events and things to do then I can possibily attend to. Also everyone holds weddings for about a month and a half from the end of July--despite how much people like to say they love the rain, I've met very few native Oregonians who are going to schedule a wedding in the rainy season--everyone wants an outdoor wedding in the sun . People are BBQing every weekend, there's mutiple festivals, the weather can be great at the coast and mountains. By November, things are slowing down and I have much more free time to focus at home and work until ski season starts picking up. There's plenty going on in Portland through the winter, but it's just at a more relaxed pace.

Been out there many times in winter. No "hibernation" at all. Probably a dip in tourist traffic after Labor Day.
