Having been in Oregon enough times, I obviously know you cannot pump gas into your car at regular stations.

However, what about gas cans for lawnmowers? Do you just simply have the attendant fill them, too?

Hey, while you are on the subject, is it customary to tip the attendant? I'm sure this has been answered before, but I could not find it. It's been forever since I even saw a full service gas station around where I live. What can I expect in terms of 'normal, expected service' versus an attendant going 'above and beyond' ? Thanks!

No. Just be sure to remember to say thank you.

I have had friends who had jobs pumping gas where they could be term'd for taking a tip.

But as in any customer service situation be polite, friendly, and appreciative, since these people are not paid enough to put up with the cr*p they have to put up with.

The only time an attendent will not pump gas is when he/she is filling up a motorcycle, the attendent will had you the nozzle and allow you to fill the tank.

Thanks for the responses! It will take some getting used to, as I like to offer a reward when someone renders me a service. They will always get huge smiles and lots of gratitude from me, though! I always hate having to leave the kids in the car to get out and pump, and it's a real hassle having to get them all out to go inside to pay. I will certainly appreciate not having to do that any more!

Diesel technically doesn't have to be pumped by the attendant. Most paces still do pump as a courtesy though.
