Move over "Salt and Straw."

If someone brought this to Portland I think it would be a big hit. If anyone is thinking of starting up a small business, this would be the thing.

No you want one, you don't "need" one. If it really is a major money producing enterprise then why don't you start one up. I think it's a bit gimmicky.

Geez buddy, lighten up. I have been posting on this forum for years and people who post here who actually live in Portland who post here know when I am having a little fun. Your profile says you are in Montana so you don't even live here so why do you care what happens in Portland?

I am really beginning to agree with Leisesturm's previous comment regarding trolls.

If it's ice cream, we need more of it.

And don't forget the chocolate & whipped cream.

Yeah, you can't get much more gimmicky than "The Salt and Straw" which Portland loves (and so do I). Lines around the block. But I guess the boy from Montana wouldn't know that since he doesn't live in Portland.

Well, maybe I will start one up...

And when I'm a rich ice cream entrepreneur ready to cash out my business and retire in the Caribbean Islands--I'll say--"See, anonymous guy in NW Montana who doubted us...it really was a good idea..."

Portland does need more young enterpreneurs like this young woman in Chicago. The business associations are always trying to encourage this type of thing. It's very different from the usual massage therapists or graphic artists or the people who want to go into the already saturated markets. That's also unfortunately true of the many restaraunt startups that just cannot compete with the competition.

This lady's idea is new, different and innovative. That's why I compared it with "Salt and Straw" which also had a different spin on ice cream. I think they began as a food cart entrerprise but in any case look how well they are doing now. I wonder if she becomes successful if she will either start a franchise or perhaps just show others how to do this type of thing.

Tell you what, if something like this did come here, I would be the first in line! I want some red ice cream that tastes like a banana split with chocolate sprinkles.

That's actually pretty ingenious and all things considered fairly inexpensive.
