Whenever I see a statement like this, I want to ask "okay, so which are the American cities of similar size that score higher across the board on your progress-o-meter that offer similar amenities for a similar cost of living?"

I mean, if you know of some, and you like the climate there, and you can get a job there, by all means go.

Portland is unmatchable within the continental 48 states for my personal preferences.

You relabeled the link to make your usual cantankerous argument, but it's actually an infographic of the top 10 greenest states.

What's the matter? Don't I agree with you and tell you how brilliant you are, that you need to call me names?

I didn't "relabel" anything FYI. I typed what I wanted to say, and provided a link. I couldn't find a site that specified only "recycling." While that's lovely of you to provide the same link I did ... to really justify your argument and name-calling, I'd have thought you'd have provided a link that proved your claim. Curious you didn't.

Sheesh. Talk about being cantankerous.

Agreed. If I found a place to be that unsatisfactory and could move elsewhere, I would do so. Portland is by no means perfect, but light-years different from where I moved (west central Florida) and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be. But it's a free country; if you feel the need to do so, then go.

You might get a kick out of this. I still love to reread that issue sometimes.

Also progressive in its vegetarian culture, and probably in the top 5 veg-friendly cities in the country

I went to a pizza place in Portland that had a nutritional yeast shaker right next to the parmesan - I haven't seen that anywhere on Earth

Those solar-powered waste bins in the CBD are pretty awesome too (forgot exactly what they do)
