I got a parking ticket back in December. I am not discussing specifics here other than that I am appealing it.

Ok, so the City is strict about posting bail within 30 days, but they set a court date for me two months after the citation, then push it back another two months.

Here in the City of Portland, if you get cited, you pay it or you have no say period. If you pay within the city's deadline, maybe the city will let you have a word third of a year later. Also, if you call and inquire the court, due to some financial hardship BS and Multnomah County court is closed from 10:30AM to 1:30PM and they close at 4:30PM.

All this and they have the resources to have these tricycles running around watching you thoroughly.

Pay first, then maybe we might let you gripe when you become less clear in the details of the incident. If this isn't constructively refusing right to appeal, what is?

That is because they are really backed up. It isn't their way to refuse appeal, it just means they are over loaded with work.

I went to court about 4 months or something after getting my parking ticket. I showed up, explained myself to the parking enforcement officer who wrote the ticket, the judge waived it, and I got my refund check 3 days later.

My friend got a parking ticket in November. It took about 3 months before he was notified his court date is in March.

I tried waiving a ticket by mail...didn't work. Even though I sent them a copy of the credit-card receipt showing I *had* bought a ticket when they said I hadn't...

Mailing in is a waste of time, if you want to fight a ticket you have to always go in, this is typically the rule anywhere you go in the country.

Both work. For some it doesn't.

I got a parking ticket last June in a situation that was complicated. I paid and appealed it by mail. Last November, after hearing absolutely nothing and totally forgetting about it by that point I got half my money back. Wheels move slowly.

Perhaps they shouldn't be writing more citations than they're prepared to address.

Or perhaps more people should obey the law.
