You are just talking geographical, not political. Virginia was the capital of the South during the Civil War, it was not a part of the North/Union.

And? Virginia was still the capital state of the Confederate, regardless of the proximity to the Union Capital.

What, because they're near one another geographically you think they're not on opposite sides politically? I would guess that the most ardent conflict would tend to come from a close proximity.

It's funny that he thinks that after 150 years of referring to the two sides as the "North" and the "South" we should suddenly switch because he says so.

Funny "Ha Ha", not funny-weird.

It's a way to change the general topic to a quippy none-detail so they do not have to deal with the realities placed before them.

It's one of the signs of a 'defeated' argument (that was based on rationalizations and justifications). Honestly, absolutely textbook.
