I didn't start the thread with that in mind, nor do I think anyone has addressed it that way. I started it with the notion of finding all the best of the area where I live, and it has given me many good ideas to check out. No doubt there are better examples of this or that in other places, but since I do not live in those places, I seek out what is good where I live.

Tried this today. Loved everything about it from sausages to sweets to sauerkraut. We will certainly return.

Finally got over to Abhiruchi for the lunch buffet. I have to say...good but not great. Just blander than I am used to. I tried a lot of what was there. Liked the potatoes very much, the chicken mahkani good but only that, liked the daal, naans were all right, and so on. The onions pakora were a nice idea; normally I view pakora as a way to eat veggies without really thinking too much about them, but here we had a pakora that I would like for its own sake.

Also recently tried Mi Jalisco near the Thriftway. (I find it odd to call it 'Bales' as I used to live in a tiny town with one small grocery that had that name.) Pretty good, though has yet to pass the wife's fajita test. So far the Mexican place I have liked best is Juan Colorado, way up TVH not long before it bends west into the heart of Hillsboro. We have yet to try Si Señor for an irrational reason: I find the name too silly to take seriously. Yeah, I know, that has zero impact, just a personal quirk.

Sometime this winter - when East Indian food really sticks to the ribs - take MAX to Orenco Station and enjoy the buffet at Swagath's. It's owned by the same family of Swagat's in Beaverton but it's a bit different, food is great, and the atmosphere is awesome. Gorgeous restaurant! And if you go on a Sunday before it ends, the Orenco farmer's market is right there.

That sounds interesting. We went to the Orenco farmer's market once and it was kind of interesting.

We should check that out this weekend. We've been wanting/intending to do that.

One thing I've been looking for is huckleberries. Have you ever seen those there?

I checked out Crystal Heart. Nice guy. Had hoped for a larger selection of books, but interesting to look around.

Oh, and pursuant to earlier discussions, Mi Jalisco was pretty good, but we liked Juan Colorado better (just as TVH turns north toward downtown Hillsboro). If both prove consistent, that'll be great. Looking to try Thai Bloom tomorrow if it works out.

There is another Thai place in Beaverton that's very good and few people know about it - Kaow Thai on Hall, near Hall Street Bar & Grill. The store frontage may not be noticeable from the street that well. Different atmosphere from Thai Bloom - very quiet. Food is very good, though, and reasonable.

I had lunch there today, as a matter of fact.
