We are retired and thinking of moving to Sandy/Mt Hood Village corridor. It seems to offer a lot of what we are looking for in an area i.e. reasonable prices with homes on acreage, near ski slopes and fishing, forest and mountain views, amenities etc. Thoughts from anyone that actually lives in the area?

I think that Sandy is adorable. And its not a stuffy retirement community where people just go to die. There is a nice population of families and kids. And plenty of activities to keep you young. There is also a lot of nice restaurants and shopping on the main drag. No need to drive into Portland if you don't want to.

We actually looked at several homes there a couple of years ago. It is a beautiful town, but when the realtor told us they get 85" of rain a year, and 180+ precipitation days,we decided against it. We get 44" now, and that would be double. If you can handle the rain go for it!
