Hello, I was having a conversation with someone and was telling them that when I lived in Portland for 22 yrs ( just moved to the east coast last year ) there was a cafe there that was called the "Red Star diner" or restaurant or something like that, that had publicly said that police weren't welcome there, and I think it was a Communist setting-type of place.

They had closed down I thought? but then read that the were just having financial difficulties with their lease for their restaurant and I couldn't find anything about them online, but I think they were in the Sellwood/Eastmoreland area? if I recall....

Any insights would be helpful..thanks!

That sounds like the Red and Black Cafe. They are closed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_and_Black_Cafe

What I miss is the Serbian cafe in Sellwood. When my wife and I visited, and we saw that, we knew we had to stop. What are the odds of a Serbian cafe in what I consider a quiet little neighborhood. Milwaukie and Bybee if I remember right.
