Interesting to see how perspectives on things can and will change.
The issue isn't that zombie posts are resurrected. It is that they are ressurected as if they are current. So someone starts reading back in the thread because its bumped to page one. They see some incorrect fact and post a polite rebuttal (or an angry diatribe) at some poster who likely doensn't live in the state anymore, because they quoted gas at $3.50/gal or pick your own obsolete factoid. Of course they aren't going to stop to check that the post is 5 years old before they light off. Who does? I like to at least know that the poster I am writing to/about is still in earshot. Does that make it clearer?

How does it happen though... aren't you curious? The how of it? Forget the why or why not. We are finished as a species if we lose the need to know how. Shakespeare wasn't born knowing how, but he got hold of some John Donne and said... "how the #@$%^", and aren't we all better for that?

I tend to not sweat the small stuff.
To be honest, I am not curious at all.

LOL. I already told you that many of these old threads are bumped up by bots. Look it up. They self-post spam that the mods remove as soon as they can. Even if some people do reply to old posts now and then, I hardly think the downfall of the human race will occur as a result.

Salt and Straw is a good option.

I like to blame the "similar threads" suggestions at the bottom of each thread. They sometimes have really outdated suggestions or suggestions that have nothing to do with the topic you are posting on.

My main area of concern is: does the respondent to a dead thread know that it is no longer in active use or not? If not, why not, and if yes... why not at least acknowledge that fact in the response??
It was one of the related, suggested threads. I'm sorry, just thought it was a good and interesting topic! Why do people get so upset at bumping old threads when they'd get on someone's behind even more for starting a new one?

Exactly. Portland has changed a lot in the past six years. Even in the past three.

I went to the one on Division, though it was the middle of the week, but there was no line and we sampled a bunch of flavors.
