That is way too old. Imagine raising a teenager into your 70s.

My parents aren't even 45 yet and they already have two grandkids (my kids).

I have a friend who is 45. Her mother had her at 50 and her father was 51. Not only are they amazing parents, but they are both still alive and well at 95 and 96. They drive and live independently. They both claim that having a baby kept them young and they wouldn't have it any other way.

I would say congratulations! Some people actually make better parents as they age.

That is an awesome link. I showed it to the nurse at my school, and she is incorporating it into lessons. Thanks.

As for the OP, you say "congrats" no more no less.

I say good for them! If they have been blessed to have this baby, and she has good medical care, and all is well with her and the baby, I say God bless. I had a few friends that had babies at 49 and they all were happy about it.

My parents are doing just that. My dad is 75 and my mom is 73. They are raising a granddaughter. My brother is a single dad and is always on the road driving either as a truck driver or when he is on tour. She has been living with them since she was 12. I think it keeps them young if you ask me.

Wow, your parents are only 45 and are allready grand parents. I could not even imagine that. I am 48 and none of our 6 kids are married yet. Then again only one is done with high school so far. He is 21 and marriage is the farthest thing from his mind at the time. The other kids range from age 16 to 7. I hope it is a long long time before I become a grandpa. LOL

Smile Everyone's different but....

look at Elizabeth Edwards - I think she was 50 and 52 when she had her last two. I'm sure those children gave her so much joy when she was dealing with so much.

I would sincerely say congratulations. Who are we to judge anyone else for their decisions? They are excited! Let them have their moment. Obviously they know what they are getting into and are prepared for it. Babies are a blessing and some people would give anything to be able to conceive and at your neighbors age it's incredible that they are expecting a child. Good for them.

Why not congratulate her and her husband?
It isn't that tough.
If you don't agree with it who cares, not your life, your body, your child or your choice.
