There was a thread about BBQ. What about Mexican food in Prescott? Better to make your own? Or, do you have to go to PHX to get decent food?

Definitely try Olivas in Prescott Valley - yum! Also El Charro downtown (on Montezuma) in Prescott, as well as Casa Bonita in either Prescott or PV are good. Arturo's, on Spouse, in PV is good as well.

Olivas...for sure.

I like Casa Bonita also, very good authentic mexican food. Also try Taco Don's, prices are great.

I didn't like Olivas, but I like Puerto Vallarta a lot (orange restaurant by Prescott Country Club). Tanqueria Guadalahara on Valley and Yavapai Rd is really good authentic Mexican. Alfonso's is good too.

In Chino Valley, the two good mexican restaurants are arturos and casa grande. Both serve very good mexican food.

Years ago, someone took me to a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant downtown Prescott. I can't tell you the name of it but the parking lot was in the back, the food was excellent but the dining atmosphere was less than desirable. A young man owned it.

I always go for the old time down home cooking when I'm in Prescott. Palace Bar and especially the many breakfast cafes are my favorite. Did see a TacoBell on the way out one time.
