4 is a little slim for my liking, but it certainly would make it more strategic. Once we decide on # of players all the rules will be up for a vote (starting lineup/bench/scoring). I know with ESPN you can customize the scoring, not sure about yahoo.
You can customize scoring on yahoo. Once we get our 12 players lets create the league (I'm ok with Aardvarks being commish, he has done it before) and we can hash out scoring details later.
It always winds up being better with less bench slots than with more. People wind up holding onto players the entire season that they dont use. With less bench slots people actually have to have some type of strategy for upcoming bye weeks and recycle players back into the rotation so other people can pick them up on waivers.
I also like 4 bench slots, just personal preference though.
Exactly. Forces one to make choices...do I release the guy injured for 6 weeks or not.
I think I have usually played with six or seven bench players. But playing with only four sounds intriguing. I am down with that if that is what the majority wants.

It also affects the draft since you have to draft bench players for bye weeks
instead of just drafting an awesome backup running back or whatever

I'll do 12. Personally my VA league plays the following format
QB
2 RBs
2 WRs
Flex (RB/WR)
TE
K
2 LBs or D linemen
2 DBs
4 or 5 on the bench
