I went 8-5 picking games this week. Great show by the Chiefs and Rams last night. I do like a good defensive game too but a combined 105 points is pretty hard to argue with!
Week 1 Group Picking Record: 9-6 (threw out the tie)
Week 2 Group Picking Record: 9-7 (counted the tie as correct because 50% picked Vikings and 50% picked Packers)
Week 3 Group Picking Record: 8-8
Week 4 Group Picking Record: 9-5
Week 5 Group Picking Record: 9-6
Week 6 Group Picking Record: 10-5
Week 7 Group Picking Record: 9-4 (threw out Browns-Bucs game since there was no consensus)
Week 8 Group Picking Record: 13-1
Week 9 Group Picking Record: 9-4
Week 10 Group Picking Record: 8-5 (threw out Bucs-Redskins game since there was no consensus) Week 11 Group Picking Record: 9-4
There were 18 pickers in this thread for Week 11:
100% picked Chargers over Broncos. INCORRECT
100% picked Cardinals over Raiders. INCORRECT
94% picked Steelers over Jaguars. CORRECT
94% picked Saints over Eagles. CORRECT
94% picked Falcons over Cowboys. INCORRECT (congrats to Bill for being the lone wolf to get that right)
89% picked Panthers over Lions. INCORRECT
89% picked Ravens over Bengals. CORRECT
83% picked Da Bears over Vikings. CORRECT
83% picked Texans over Redskins. CORRECT
78% picked Colts over Titans. CORRECT
63% picked Seahawks over Packers. CORRECT
58% picked Rams over Chiefs. CORRECT
56% picked Giants over Bucs. CORRECT
Interesting! The Broncos and Raiders were the surprise games of the week and most went Falcons, Panthers, too!
The wild card picture might get interesting as there are 5 win teams who could be in the hunt. Those teams better pick up the pace in the 2nd half of the season.
I went 9-4 counting the Seahawk's win Thursday night, but that's the one I didn't get picked until near the end of the first quarter (which is WHY I picked the trailing Seahawks). I asked for opinions on whether or not we should be able to make a late pick if we take the trailing team, and while a couple of you said it should be okay and nobody said it shouldn't be, after some more thought I just don't feel right about it. I could have and should have found 5 minutes some time to make the TNF pick before the game started.
If y'all want to change it sometime for future picks, I'd have no problem with that, but I was wrong to consider it at the time. My only defense is that last Thursday was an AWFUL day in the Newk household!
The good news is that my wife is doing better now. There will be no full recovery, ever, but she's alive. Too many years of smoking cigarettes have made her heart and lungs a mess. If any of you are currently smokers, KNOCK IT OFF! *steps off the soap box*
Glad she is doing better! I get the soap box part, I'm bad about smoking. Don't mind the soap box at all.
My mom was a very heavy smoker, both parents actually, but took a toll on my mom. She lived to 80, last 2 or 3 years couldn't do much, heart & lungs were shot. I've never smoked, my sisters either but we all have health issues.
My grandmother died from smoking about 22 years ago. It's too bad in my immediate family (I'm the oldest of 4 between my family and the cousins) I'm the only one that really remembers here because the youngest was like 3. Our last word's to her before she passed away was we would never smoke in our lives....ever! I'm convinced she stayed alive just to hear those words from her because she passed away no more than 10 minutes after we said that. So sorry to hear that Newk.
