Hell bent on destroying quarterbacks?

Dude! It's football! It's professional football composed of men who sometimes weigh 300 lbs and come barreling at you with crazy speed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of stupid, late hits, or helmet-to-helmet contact, but if you want to win in this league, you've got to rattle the quarterback. Of course, Peyton Manning is not your average quarterback. The Jets tried to go into the AFC championship with an intent to disrupt Peyton's rhythm and the man showed that he is not easily disrupted. But is that a surprise? Really? Peyton is football incarnate. I still think you scheme to put pressure on him, plant him on his a$$ every now and then, and let him know if you can't make your reads quick enough . . . we're coming. But there's always a risk. If you live by the blitz, you can very often die by the blitz.

I expect to a see a game very similar to the NFC Championship game. You go, I go, you score, I score. Only problem for the Saints though is that if they take too long to get into a groove Peyton will make them pay.

The Jets had the number one Defense.....

They couldn't touch Manning in the second half once they cracked the code.

Let's not forget that the Colts have a serious Defense.....the Jets found that out too late.

Like citizenkane2 said, the Colts have a good defense as well, probably better than the Saints. And as for offense, the Colts/Manning will put up the points on a woefully inadequate Saints defense.

Colts all the way, go AFC!!!!

Hmmm, as if the refs don't know that this is basically the objective of every team in the NFL already.

There used to be a single stat column called sacks. Good QBs don't take sacks - first of all it charges up the defense, second of all you lose yardage. What happens is that they throw the ball at the very last second either out of bounds or towards a receiver's vicinity. They can get away with this because the league has limited what intentional grounding can be.

That's why these past few years we start getting stat columns of 'hurries' and 'knock downs', which are just as effective as sacks in terms of describing how effective the O-line is. There are QBs who will hold on to the ball until the very last second before throwing it away (Favre) for incompletions - note his completion numbers. I guarantee that if there is no defense rush, he will just hang on longer until he either finds a target or he trips over.

The fact the he didn't get sacked doesn't mean the defense was hitting him 3 seconds after he made a completion, it just means he throws it away right as the defenders get to him. Some QBs are better at throwing it away quicker, Brett is very competitive and likes to hang on for that last possible moment in order to make that next big play.

Greg Williams's inability to think before he speaks does not preclude the fact that football remains a full contact sport. What's more, the same things get said in every locker room on any given Sunday. Do I think it's right to talk about hurting a player? Hell no. But I have to agree with Darren Woodson insofar as everyone knows that sh*t like that gets said in the locker room ALL THE TIME. Whether or not Williams was dumb for saying what he said on a sports talk show is not a point of debate for me. Duh! Of course he was.

Nevertheless, the zebras didn't do much to protect Aaron Rodgers during their game against the Cards, so if they're going to be "hyper-vigilant" during the Super Bowl, more power to them, but try to be consistent, don't wait to be "put on alert." I would hope good officiating doesn't prevent a physical game from taking place.

Not hex-type stuff, it's called good mojo. Got Gumbo the Saints cat already on a daily treat diet, my lucky 06' shirt, and am ready to use the lucky knock on wood when absolutely necessary. I have been really good and have worn nothing but black & gold since last Sunday, haven't killed any spiders inside the house, haven't walked under any ladders, not placed a hat on the bed, opened an umbrella in the house, or stepped on a crack. The only thing we need now is for the boys to show up in Miami.

Gee I didn't even think to look in sports until just now! WHO DAT! (I guess the NFL is gonna sue me for that one.)

It's one thing to "know" it in unspoken terms. It's another to bring public scrutiny and now more pressure on the refs to call it.

Dumb for the Saints.
