Maybe my fellow Chiefs fans are too redneck for the internet, not to mention C-D, or maybe I just overlooked the thread pertaining to this.
This story has got to be big news in other places besides KC, since it involves ESPN's sacred northeast for crying out loud.
Coming from the Patriots, people have very high, if not ridiculous expectations of the guy. I've heard that in New England, it was Belichick who made the final decisions, so it might be hard to gauge how well Pioli will do on his own... which is how things will probably work in KC.
I think that anything would be an improvement over the last few years. The game of football has long since passed Carl Peterson by.

Kansas City has been down for a long time. With the exception of the Dick Vermeil years, the Chiefs haven't had much to cheer about since the Marty years a DECADE back.
I think Pioli will be a solid fit for the franchise. They have a lot of challenges ahead. This franchise knows about adversity. For the first 15 years of its history KC had the best record of all the original AFL charter franchises. After Hank Stram was dismissed, they walked through the desert for 15 seasons and did not go to the playoffs except one time. That was 1986, and head coach John Mackovic was fired after that season. Go figure.
As someone that lives in KC but despises the Chiefs, I am hoping Pioli can bring some class to an organization that has been one of the classless organizations in sports for a number of years. That franchise has been ripping the fans of this city off for years. They kept jacking ticket prices despite putting up a crap product. They have one of the highest ticket price to cost of living ratios in the NFL despite not winning a playoff game for nearly 15 years.
So in hindsight, do Chiefs fans feel Pioli was somehow laying the groundwork for this future, or is he too far removed to have any connection to this years success? As a Pats fan just curious since his fingerprints are on "my" team.
