Smeg SIHP264b Induction Cooktop

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

Although Smeg is a little more expensive then most, it definitely more then pays for itself. This one in particular at 7400 blows the rest to dust.

We don't have gas in our house so everything is electric. The past oven that we had the cooktop on was terrible compared to gas. The boiling time was so much slower, the cooking times for dishes were different, but this cooktop is exactly like if I was cooking with gas but even better!

The design is sleek and modern and after kitchen renovations it finishes it off perfectly.

The control pad is flat and works as a touch screen. One press on and then just press up until that particular hot spot reaches the setting you want. It has 9 different heat settings, and they really all do make a huge difference to each other, which shows how hot it does reach. The speed at which it does so is also amazing for an electricity powered cooktop. Turning it from 9-5 for example will switch from boiling to simmering and it happens in an instant.

If a hot spot is still hot while not in use, there will remain a H on the screen until it is safe enough to touch. Also, if the pan is taken off the cooktop it cools down but also lights up letting you know to turn the cooktop off - after awhile it turns off itself. This is also good in case what you are cooking with slides a bit and isn't properly on the hotspot.

Another safety feature that I am impressed with is automatic switch off if too much water splashes. If too much water splashes when boiling something, the cooktop turns itself off and then won't let you turn it back on until it's at a safe heat, or the water is gone.

I am so happy with this cooktop in every way and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone!
