I have a Simplicity dehumidifier by Danby that I have been using for at least five years, during the summer months. Although it needs a little TLC these days, it is still running well and continues collecting the majority of the humidity in our lower level - just as it should. Our floors and walls would be damp without the dehumidifier.
The model I have is one with the bucket on the front. It is easy to remove and dump the water contents. The electrical cord is long enough that I can move it around to another area within the room without having to unplug it.
I have been happy with this dehumidifier since I purchased it. Depending upon the humidity outside, it collects a full bucket of water within one day or two. I like that it automatically shuts off when the bucket is full and will not work again until the bucket has been emptied. I am able to adjust the humidity setting on the machine which is great for days of high humidity. I have it in a location where it removes the humidity from a fairly large, open area of the lower level of my house. It works well enough to keep all the floors and walls for the entire area dry.
What I don't like is that within a year of purchase, it no longer shut off automatically when the humidity level is low. It runs continuously when plugged in but it does shut off when full so at least the water doesn't overflow onto the floor. The water level indicator that sits inside the bucket can be difficult to work with when replacing the bucket after emptying the contents. I have to manually reach in and manoeuvre it into the opening in the bucket while pushing the bucket back into place - this can be a tricky task as the level indicator is not in the best spot for this operation. Also, when the bucket is full of water it is not so easy to carry over to the sink to empty without splashing water all over the floor. I have to take baby steps and walk very carefully in order to spill the least amount of water possible. It is impossible to make it without spilling some of the water. It is also quite noisy when operating but I got used to the noise and barely hear it anymore.
Overall, it is a good dehumidifier and has served our purposes very well for approximately five years.
