Single Rail Gym Set by The Barnyard

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

The Single Rail Gym Set with a Climbing Wall playset by The Barnyard is a sturdy product that is great for kids to enjoy outdoor play. The playset was created in 2009 and features many of the most up-to-date safety features available in playsets. It features double wide hard wood construction, a ladder with a rail and high sides on the playhouse and siding board. Playsets often feature ladders, but they are often rope ladders that require the child to climb leaning over and using their hands or the feature stairs without railings. This playset is extra safe because of the handrail. The high sides on the sliding board mean there is less risk of a child falling over the side. While this may not seem like a serious concern, many children get involved in their play, roughhouse while sliding or lean over the side of the slide and tumble to the ground below.

In addition to the slide, which has a wave feature for additional sliding fun, the set also features a climbing wall, a rope climb, two swings and a ring and bar swing. There are plenty of engaging activities for a child to enjoy and it would be possible for a child to enjoy hours of outdoor play with the set. The array of features makes this one of the better playsets on the market.

While a great playset, it does require power washing and restaining every two years. The plastic sets on the market do not require this much maintenance, but the positive features far outweigh the negative. Since the set appeals to a variety of age ranges, engages children for long periods of time and offers a number of safety features not seen on other playsets, it is well worth the effort of cleaning and staining.
