Do you believe people - both males and females - are quicker to hate/form negative opinions about men as opposed to women? Leaving mysogny and sexism out of it, it seems if a man does something wrong people are quick to say what a ******** he is, while if it's a woman half the time it's the other persons fault (male or female).
Maybe there's a reason behind that. When women murder, it SEEMS that it's because of domestic abuse, mental problems etc - rarely for purely selfish and greedy reasons. Or is that just how the case is portrayed?
Does society give the benefit of the doubt to women more often than men?
I actually think not really all that much. Think in the past of Witch-trials etc...Some women are also absolutely horrid to other women in ways men can scarcely dream of. Yet, especially if it's an attractive woman (maybe this mainly applies to attractive women), men especially will put up with almost anything from her.

Women make up of 15% of convicted murderers. It seems safe enough to say that murder is not very characteristic of women, enough so that they may be mitigating factors one might take into consideration when they do see a woman offender.
I think both women and men in most cultures are highly misogynistic and deprecating of women. I mean, it's not so implausible considering things have only very recently swung women's way in the pendulum of equality. It's not men's fault, often I see women are the worst perpetuators of misogynistic attitudes. I feel it's almost a human condition.

I don't know if I agree with you. It would seem some women would die for their girl-friends, they really stick together, and there's an 'us vs them' mentality when it comes to men.

Would you lump 'Sex and the City' in with that sexist garbage? It seems to be both about 'independent women' and fairytales all rolled into one. Or say Marie Claire or something like that.

no.

i will grant you that society is less sympathetic toward men.
i don't feel that this constitues "a negative opinion", because we seem to enjoy advantages in other areas. we may be less inclined to enjoy the sympathy and help of others, but there's a lot more we can get away with.

Honestly I've never watched a full episode of Sex and the City, because it seemed highly boring and pathetic to me, though most people view it as "pioneering" and "cutting edge" which says a lot about our society. I saw a bunch of women talking about how independent they were while obsessing over men and their age. I don't think that's very empowering.

Yeah when women hate it seems to be deeper, scarier, lol.
