I do not disagree. I had written that the co-worker who drew the happy fact "did not exhibit a lot of sensitivity". Probably that should have been worded more strongly: "clueless" is certainly accurate. What I was taking issue with, though, was the notion that we all feel the same intensity of grief following the loss of an aged parent.

Well, on that we can agree. My grief was much more intense with my Mother, it was my first 'big' loss and she was the center of our extended family.

My father lived with us . . . and maybe it just hasn't hit me yet but I seem to be handling it a whole lot better.

The death of my Grandmother? Barely a blip on my radar. I never spent that much time with her.
