What is this MGTOW... (men, dating, woman, girlfriend)

...while I'm admittedly an old fart well into my 60's I recently came across some youtube videos of this, I assume new, MGTOW(men going their own way) movement. Is this a growing movement, an anti feminist cult or just some guys that have had their hearts broken and can't deal with it? I was a little baffled by the whole notion.
I've only seen the term (acronym) here on this forum.
No, not anti-feminist. More like deciding that they're men who have been burned too many times in their relationships with women, and just gave up. Like, "Yeah I'd like to have a woman but it never works and I've given up."
Instead, hang with the guys, computer games, porn, often a good dog, but no women "been there, tried it, didn't work, gave up."
I'm totally opposed to this kind of thinking but I can understand the mind frame. My cousin is one of them. No interest in women, he loves his dog, has a few male friends. Heh, I never asked him about his porn: TMI. But he is committed. He has no more interest in the female of the species.
Actually my used-to-be BFF moved to the desert outside a small town in AZ, and has come to the same decision, but possibly motivated by poor relationships with women, and partly health problems, diabetes, and I bet if we ran a T-level on him it would read "limp." He has several dogs and has totally given up on women.
Me? I'm a healthy sr. citizen, my T-level tests just fine, and I'm still convinced there's a good woman out there who will appreciate me as a good man. I just haven't met her yet. I'm not part of this movement.

It is an organized group of men who actively promote not having romantic relationships with women. Some healthy men decide this but it is mostly guys who have been furiously rejected by women and have hit their breaking point with it. They attempt to null their desire for romantic relationships with women with anger and some bitterness.
I've been furiously rejected by women and am starting to accept that I will likely not ever have a romantic relationship with a woman, since they do not seem to like me. But I'd never embrace an organized group like MGTOW with a bad reputation. I'm an independent thinker all the way (atheist.) I like to think of my self as an independent traveler rather than a MGTOW.

Whatever makes one happy is mt philosophy. As long as one is content and secure with themselves is all that really matters. Be it same, opposite, or none. Be it animal, electronic, vegetative, floral or fauna. Doesn't matter. What matters is being right with one's self.

Why do you need organizing for that? It would seem that having Vaseline and tissue paper would be all that is required. Maybe add a bit of porn for imagery?

I'm not really sure about organized. There are certainly men out there who haven't had success in the dating and relationship department but aren't bitter about it (me). But we don't need some grand pronouncement like these dudes apparently do.
To the OP: MGTOW isn't a movement, it is just a collection of bitter ne'er do wells who blame their personal dating and relationship woes on others, mainly women and feminism.
For example, one complaint that is going around in these circles is family courts, and how they are unfairly slanted towards women. Now if this were a genuine organized movement then you would see these guys actually would be out petitioning, making phone calls, studying law themselves, you know taking action. Instead many of them would rather sit in front of a computer screen complaining about society instead of doing something constructive because it is easier. Usually it seems instead of trying to help and build up other men these guys seem to be only interested in tearing down women and blaming the "feminization of society" for their issues.
It's just a growing movement. Men choose how far they want to take it. Some men choose to live their lives completely without women. Those would be the most extreme ones though. On the other side of it you have men that are happy to date women (usually non-monogamously and without paying for everything) but aren't going to get married of have children.
Although I don't really consider myself to be MGTOW, I do not plan on having children and I certainly am not going to get married. I do currently have a girlfriend though.
It all stemmed from guys being tired of getting the short end of the stick in society and the legal system so they choose to opt out of the expectations that society has put on them. In a way it is quite similar to how early feminists were fed up with societies expections of women (being domestic and subservient to their husbands) so they chose to oppose those expectations. Although many MGTOWs are antifeminists the groups are seperate.

I guess I'm stuck (with the bold) with this because my only dating options are bored cougar housewives or criminals who trespassed into this country.
