Some people are made of poop from their head to their toes. Avoid those people. But sometimes they have really pretty exteriors and you don't know that they're cruddy people until they hurt you. All you can do is realize that not everyone is made of the bad stuff and there are good people who won't betray you. It takes time and energy to get to know them and learn to trust. Be a good friend, be trustworthy and kind, be someone you're proud of no matter what. You'll attract the right people to you.

Since it was posed based on "females" I think its fair to respond as a female, who has viewed antics by females.

(1) the female was raised to grab the gold, no matter the collateral damage.
(2) To "appear" cunning, sly and "one up" the victim.
(3) learned behavior
(4) Because...They can.

When a child is raised with the "you can do anything"...the parent forgets to set a guideline to that statement. Without boundaries...of civil behavior.

not all girls betray, just the ones you're choosing. Change your standards, you'll get different results.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but it's not just the women that do it. Why do husbands betray their wives, and then do bitter, ugly things to you. Shouldn't adultery be enough?

It seems to be an equal opportunity betrayal for all. But I know for a fact that there are those of us that do remain faithful.

Here's looking at that from a biologist's point of view: It's hard-wired into their brains. In most species of all sorts, females do this, to maximize the support they get for their offspring, by multiple males, that each thinks he may be the father of the young ones. Our closest relatives, the Chimpanzees, carry this out to the extreme. When a female comes into heat, she may have sex with every male in her group. We share 99% of our DNA with them. So don't blame the women, they're just following their inborn impulses. If you're going to have a relationship with one of them, you have to deal with it. Civilization has attempted to quell these matings with multiple men, but obviously has had only limited success at it.

A statistic compiled decades ago, showed that 25% of all children born to married couples, have biological fathers other than the women's husbands. I'd bet that percentage has increased today.

Now of course, someone will address the counter question, of why do men step out on the women to whom they are coupled? It's because Nature favors the survival of the genes of men, who spread them around the most. This is why monogamy is an unnatural construct, invented and imposed by those who want to wield power over the masses. Pair-bonded couples produce more children, who grow up to be workers and soldiers, to support the rise of warlords and kings. They also provide more adherents to religious empire-builders. These power-mongers have been making human lives much more difficult for the past 10,000 years or so. And it is also the combination of these things, that has the world bursting with 7.4 billion people.

If you read "Coming of Age in Samoa", by Margaret Mead, she describes an isolated society that had been almost entirely untouched by the outside world, when she was there, almost a century ago. There was little permanent pair-bonding among couples and children were raised by a community effort, involving persons of all ages. Despite frequent sexual activity, their birthrate was only about 40% of what it is in current-day societies in the Western World. The children had many elders to whom they could turn for support and were never left to feel abandoned or unloved, regardless of what their biological parents were providing. It's the natural and healthiest way for humans to live. A key element in it, was that childcare was a privilege and a pleasure, not a burdensome obligation, since it was shared by the entire community.

Oh please, humans are not chimps. We are held to a higher standard. It's a choice to be unfaithful. We are not mindlessly driven by instinct like some lower forms of life are. Just because 25% supposedly have children by someone else doesn't make it right. And where do they get these statistics, and how accurate are they? It sounds more like an excuse to me. It's shameful behavior just the same no matter who does it male, or female.

Because she's human and humans tend to suck at commitment.
