I remember one in particular that ended up in a locked ward at the hospital where I worked. When he was in the general population of the day ward, he was in restraints. Dangerous and evil man that no one took chances with.
They have an extremely high chance of losing and end up being in handcuffs anyway. And have additional charges.
If they are going to fight the law, why not fight in court, rather than police and end up looking bad when in court?
I don't think there is thought behind it, it's a reaction. It is how that person has probably always reacted throughout life, in anger and loss of control...which is probably why they are committing crimes versus working in a regular job.
I raise my voice when I'm upset. I don't mean to and I don't like that I do. It would be better if I stayed calm and rational. But my instant reaction is raising my voice. Their instant reaction is lashing out physically. Thinking of consequences, and which thing would be better in the long run, is based on having the time to give thought to something, whereas the resistance is more reflexive than that.
