"You're shy."
When a psychiatrist told me this, it was like a light bulb going on. Suddenly my anxiety about being around peopke and my avoidant behaviors made sense. It wasn't that I was a bad or inferior person because I wasn't as social as my friends, I was just shy. I now accept myself as I am and allow myself to have the space I need without judgment.
"I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel all alone."
And.....I used to be the biggest worrier on the planet. Still have to talk myself down. It was like I was punishing myself because I thought if I suffered enough by worrying enough, in a weird way I could control the outcome. Not sure if that makes sense to the general public at large. Maybe only my fellow "worry warts."
Churchill gets the credit on this one:
"If you're going through hell....just keep going."
Maybe not life altering, but for a little note of humor regarding the human condition by Betrand Russell (I believe), Paraphrasing here:
"I always knew I was going to die but I thought in my case, God would make an exception."

This was something I learned on my own, but it was a good revelation.
"You are not the only person on the planet who is insecure. Only weird people are not at least a little insecure."
