"Don't put all of your eggs in one basket" I have found that to be true in so many diverse situations. Thanks mom.

"Your friends are a reflection of you. Be sure that you like who you see." also mom

"When someone shows (or tells) you who they are, believe them!" Maya Angelou. This saved me from a man who told me he was sexually licentious in a word used mostly for women, and another who drank too much, I had to drive, and later threw up on me.

you will know your friends, thru your enemies.

Took along time to grasp that truism.

-----------

Still am an advocate for the "All I really know, I learned in Kindergarten".
"Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life -
Learn some and think some
And draw and paint and sing and dance
And play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,
Hold hands and stick together
.
Be aware of wonder."

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

Helps me try to appreciate things a little more.

When people show you who they are, believe them the first time they show you.

More words I live by:

"Not forgiving someone is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die."

"You never know what baggage someone carries....."

This quote has had the biggest impact on me.

“I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll, my successes or failures, fame or pain, what other people think of me or say about me, my circumstances, or my position. Attitude keeps me going or cripples my progress. It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitudes are right, there is no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me.”

Two:

--cultivate an attitude of gratitude

--when feeling envy, compare my situation to those who have less than me, and not those who have more. Doing so eliminates the envy and helps with the one above.
